What I do
Taps, basins, sinks, toilets, cisterns and bidets are the most used points in the home and the first to give trouble. Before replacing anything I check whether a new mechanism or seal is enough, because often the whole fitting does not need changing.
Tap and mixer installation and repair
Many drips come from a worn cartridge, a washer or a seat valve. Before replacing the whole tap I check which part is failing, because sometimes a small spare part is all it takes.
When the tap is old or spare parts are no longer available, I propose a new one with the right connection. You get the quote with the model and fitting described before I install.
Wash basin installation and replacement
Before replacing, I check the condition of the wall, the water connections and the waste. If the trap is worn or the stopcock does not close, I change it during the same visit so the leak does not come back.
I fit the basin on a countertop, pedestal or vanity unit, at the height and position that suit how it will be used. I explain the fitting and what the quote includes.
Kitchen sink installation and replacement
A badly levelled sink or worn sealant lets water and grime build up under the unit. I check the worktop, the connections and the trap before fitting the new sink.
Depending on the unit and the type of sink, I install it inset, on a countertop or as a double bowl, with the tap and drain correctly connected. You get a quote with the fitting described in detail.
Toilet installation and repair
Leaks at the base usually come from the wax ring or the connection to the drain. If the toilet moves when you sit on it, the fixing is loose and could eventually crack. I check this before deciding.
For a replacement I check the outlet of the drain (horizontal or vertical), the distance to the wall and the height, and choose a model that fits the space. The quote includes the new seal and fitting.
Cistern repair and replacement of mechanisms
The filling and flushing mechanisms are spare parts. If the float sticks or the inlet valve leaks, water escapes without you noticing until the bill arrives. I find it and replace it.
If the cistern is old or broken, I propose a new concealed or surface-mounted one, depending on the space. The quote includes the mechanism and the fitting.
Bidet installation and replacement
Before fitting I check the hot and cold water supplies, the drain and the installation height. If the bidet is replacing another one, I also check the trap and the stopcocks.
I can install freestanding, wall-hung or wall-mounted single-lever bidets. I explain which suits your bathroom best and what the quote includes.

Frequently asked questions
Do you repair taps or do they always need replacing?
If the body of the tap is sound, it can almost always be repaired with a cartridge or washer. I only recommend replacing it when a repair does not make sense.
Does the price include the trap and connections?
Yes, where needed. I check and replace worn traps and connections. I list them separately on the quote.
Do I need a new worktop to fit a new sink?
Not always. It depends on the dimensions. If the opening does not match, I tell you before you buy anything to avoid surprises.
Can you change the wax seal without replacing the toilet?
Yes, it is a common repair. I remove the toilet, replace the seal and refit it, checking that it is secure.
Can I replace only the mechanism and keep the cistern?
Yes, in most cases. It is the most economical option when the cistern is in good condition. I confirm this on the visit.
Can I install a bidet where there is no water supply?
Yes, with a branch from the existing pipes. I assess it on the visit to find the simplest route.
Will you fit a tap I have bought myself?
Yes. You can bring your own tap and I will fit it. I will let you know before I start if the connection or the space does not suit.
How long does a basin replacement take?
A simple change is usually done in one visit. If a connection has to be redone, I plan it when I quote.
