Water leak detection and repair in Torrevieja

If your bill goes up for no reason, a stain appears on the ceiling or you can hear water inside the wall, there is a leak. I pinpoint it, repair it and deal with the damp it has left behind.

What I do

Finding the leak, repairing it and dealing with the damage are three parts of the same job. That is why I do them together: first I find the exact point, then I repair the pipe or joint and, finally, I check that the damp has no other cause before touching the finish.

Water leak detection and location

If the water bill rises for no reason or you notice damp without seeing where it comes from, the leak is hidden. I locate it accurately so I only repair what is needed.

A leak inside a wall or under a floor can go unseen for weeks. Before opening anything, I check the meter, consumption and the points of the installation to narrow down where the problem is.

When I need to test without breaking things, I use suitable detection equipment to find the exact point. That way I repair the leak without lifting extra floors or walls.

Leak and burst pipe repair

A burst pipe loses water non-stop and damages everything it touches. I repair the leak at the exact point and leave the system ready to run without surprises.

Depending on the material and where the damage is, the repair may be a patch, a new section or a replaced part. I choose the solution that lasts, not simply the quickest one.

Before repairing I check that no other sections are weakened. If the pipe has been in poor condition for years, I tell you and propose what to replace, with the quote in writing.

Damp caused by leaks repair

A stain on the ceiling or a bulging wall almost always has water as its origin. I find the cause of the damp rather than just covering the stain.

Much damp comes from a leaking pipe running through the wall or the floor slab. If you only paint over it, the stain comes back. That is why I start by finding and repairing the leak.

Once the source is fixed, I explain which area needs drying and which finishes should be checked. I give you the quote before I start, separating the plumbing repair from any paint or plaster finish.

How to tell if you have a leak

There is a simple test you can do yourself: close every tap, make sure no appliance that uses water is running and watch the meter for a few minutes. If it keeps moving, water is being lost somewhere in the system.

If the meter does not move but there is damp, the leak may be in a drain, which only leaks when it is used, or the stain may be coming from outside. In both cases I check before opening anything.

Leak, seepage or condensation

Not every damp patch comes from a pipe. Water seeping in from a terrace or the façade, or condensation on a cold wall, leave similar marks. I check the system to confirm whether the source is a water leak and, if it is not, I tell you so that you do not pay for a repair you do not need.

When it is worth calling me

  • Water consumption rises although the way the home is used has not changed
  • A steady jet or drip from a visible or accessible pipe
  • Stains that darken or spread on a ceiling, wall or corner
  • Damp, stains or mould on walls or ceilings with no obvious cause
  • Loss of pressure at one point in the home that never had a problem before
  • Paint lifting, plaster coming away or mould in one specific area

How I fix it

  1. 1

I check the meter, consumption and points in the system to narrow down the area.

  2. 2

I locate the leak without unnecessary damage and explain the cause.

  3. 3

I repair the pipe or damaged part once you have approved the quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do you speak English?

When you call, tell me you prefer English and we will find the easiest way to understand each other. If a phone call is difficult, email me with a short description and photos of the leak or the damp patch.

Do you have to break walls to find a leak?

Not always. I first narrow the area with tests and measurements. I only open up once the point is located, to do as little damage as possible.

Do you repair copper, multilayer and PVC pipes?

I work with the materials common in homes: copper, multilayer and PVC. I adapt the repair to the type of pipe that is installed.

Do you also repair the paint or plaster?

I focus on the plumbing, which is what causes the damp. If the finish needs replacing, I tell you and quote it separately.

How can I tell if I have a water leak?

If consumption rises for no reason, there is damp, or you can hear water when nothing is running, it is a good sign of a leak. Call me and I will check.

Can I wait to repair a small leak?

A small leak usually grows over time and ends up damaging walls and floors. It is best repaired early, even if the fix is simple.

How long does a wet wall take to dry?

It depends on the thickness, ventilation and how much water got in. Once the leak is fixed, I tell you what to expect in your case.
