Radiators and hydronic heating in Torrevieja

A radiator that will not heat up, a dripping valve or a leak in the underfloor heating. I work out whether the problem is air, a valve or circulation and fix it without unnecessary building work.

What I do

Hydronic heating works as a closed circuit: if air gets in, pressure drops or a valve sticks, the heat stops spreading properly. I check the whole circuit, not just the radiator that is cold.

Radiator and hydronic heating circuit installation and repair

A radiator that does not heat or a circuit that loses water reduces the comfort of the home. I diagnose whether the problem is air, a valve or circulation and repair it.

Many radiators that are cold at the top have air trapped in them, and others are cold throughout because a valve is closed or there is a circulation problem. Before replacing any parts, I check the whole circuit and its pressure.

I install new radiators, replace valves or repair leaks in the circuit. I explain the sizing and give you a quote with materials and labour listed separately.

Radiator bleeding and valve repair

Bleeding a radiator means removing the air that stops it heating. It is a simple job that I do properly, and if the valve drips or is stuck, I repair it on the same visit.

Air collects at the top of radiators and stops hot water flowing through. The sign is a radiator that is cold at the top and warm at the bottom, sometimes with a bubbling noise when the heating comes on.

I bleed every radiator in the home and check the pressure of the circuit. If a valve drips, is stuck or does not regulate, I repair or replace it and give you the quote before doing so.

Hydronic underfloor heating installation and repair

Underfloor heating spreads warmth evenly, but a leak inside the circuit is hard to see. I locate the affected section and repair it without lifting the whole floor.

An underfloor heating circuit is embedded in the screed or the finish layer. If it loses water, damp appears in the floor or on the nearest wall. Before opening anything, I check the pressure and the manifolds.

When I locate the leak, I repair the section and explain how the finish will look. If it is a new installation, I pressure-test it before covering the circuit and give you the quote itemised by section.

A check-up before winter

The best time to check the heating is before you need it. Bleeding the radiators, checking the circuit pressure and making sure the valves open and close properly saves you from a cold home on the first cold day.

If a radiator is cold at the top and warm at the bottom, or you can hear water moving noisily through it, there is usually air in the circuit.

Leaks in the heating circuit

If you have to top up the circuit often because the pressure keeps dropping, water is escaping somewhere: a valve, a radiator or a pipe buried in the wall or under the underfloor heating. I locate it before opening anything and repair only the affected section.

When it is worth calling me

  • Radiators that do not heat or only heat in part
  • Radiators that are cold at the top
  • Circuit pressure that drops for no obvious reason
  • Leaks from valves, unions or the radiator itself
  • Bubbling or gurgling noise when the heating is switched on
  • Patches of floor that are cold or heat unevenly

How I fix it

  1. 1

I check radiators, valves and circuit pressure.

  2. 2

I bleed, adjust or locate the leak and explain what was wrong.

  3. 3

I repair or replace what is needed and check everything heats up.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a radiator cold at the top and warm at the bottom?

It is almost always trapped air. I bleed it and, if the problem returns, I check the circuit to find the cause.

How often should radiators be bled?

It depends on the installation. If air builds up often, the circuit should be checked. I give you a recommendation on the visit.

Does the whole floor have to come up to repair a leak?

Not always. I locate the point with tests and only open the area needed. I explain the extent before starting.

Can you install hydronic heating in a home that does not have it?

Yes, to the extent the installation allows. I assess it on the visit and explain the solution and its approximate cost.

Can I bleed the radiators myself?

Yes, carefully and without letting out too much water. If the pressure drops or the valve does not seal, it is better that I check it.

Can underfloor heating be fitted during a renovation?

Yes, it is the most common time. I coordinate it with the rest of the work so the circuit is correctly sized and protected.
